ALP is a protein found in the bloodstream and throughout all bodily tissues, but found in more concentrated amounts in the bile, bones, and the liver. High levels of ALP may indicate health issues within the liver. 

Fasting Required: Yes. At minimum 6 hours. 

Who: Individuals over the age of 18 who may be prone to liver issues. 

What: Blood Specimen.

Why: This test is commonly used to assess health of the liver in combination with other screenings.
